Art
Art samples of work contributed by Cendrine Colin, Switzerland
The students start by making a mind-map on their views or feelings (positive and negative) or the media output, any aspect that comes to mind to link with the virus situation. They then chose 1 or a few items from their mind-map and created an original artwork in colour, any size and in any medium.
In-class (10D) example of Covid19 group warm up mind-map on the board to get them thinking on their own experience/mind-map right after.
Covid19 exhibition mostly Year 8 (Aged 11-12)
Self-evaluation of learning in a lesson
After each class, I encourage students to think about their learning by answering at least one of the questions I have given them.
Below a screenshot of the instructions for a class.
Self-evaluation of task
At the end of a task, I ask each student to hand in their self-evaluations with their finished work, posted with the assignment on Showbie. They copy-paste the criteria, and evaluate themselves for each, writing points and adding up the total before submitting.
Example below: 8th grade (11-12 year olds)
Instructions for an Online Lesson
Here is an example of what I put up on Ecole Directe for the online art classes:
Collaboration in Teams' Notes for Peer to Peer Feedback - Assessment for Learning
In 'Notes' at the top of the this window in a Team's class, pressing on 'Notes' opens a document on which everybody can interact and edit at the same time.
In the example on the right (12 Pre-IB), I divided the 20 students into four groups, each having their own note to interact on. Students post their on-going work and give each other feedback.
I have asked each to add the explanation of their work, to give each member of their group '++-' feedback (2 things that are successful and one aspect they could be working on more or see in another way, or to ask an open question) and (as homework for 20-25min) too.
I visit the work in the other groups to give at least 5 more feedback comments to peers not in their peer-to-peer designated group. This peer-to-peer feedback can also be done during a class, but some students are in different timezones so this allows them to add their comment when they are awake.
